Manage files with Turbo Navigator
Raman Mohan

Managing files on the computer is not an easy task for heavy computer users. The File Manager provided in Windows is a good utility but heavy users generally have to opt for commercial file managing utilities that cost a lot. A freeware file manager that has almost all features of commercial file managing software is now available for download. It has a user-friendly interface that makes it an ideal choice for home and office PC users.

Turbo Navigator

This is an advanced, highly customisable file manager for Windows ’95/’98/Me/NT/2000. It works as Windows Explorer with one main difference — it uses two file panels, as in Symantec’s Norton Commander, a well-known commercial file manager for DOS and Windows. Some of the key features include full drag and drop capability; built-in file viewer for text, RTF and binary files; System Tree View for both panels; advanced change attributes capability; ability to change system attribute, ability to change created/modified/ accessed file time/date stamp; Copy speed display and advanced filtering capability in file panels and in basic operations like copy, move and delete. Turbo Navigator has a built-in favourites button for quick directory change and has the ability to wipe the files from the disk so they cannot be undeleted. It supports a built-in Media Player for quick preview of .wav, .mid, mp3, .avi, .mpg and other supported file formats without any need for opening separate applications. It has a very detailed yet simple user interface. It affords full clipboard support including file name and file path copy. You can also encrypt files if you want. Turbo Navigator runs on any computer running Windows ’95, ’98, ’98 SE, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 and later provided that system has the latest version of ComCtl32.dll file installed. The latest version of this file can be found on the following Web address: http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/ieplatform/ie/comctrlx86.asp. You have to run TNSETUP.EXE to install Turbo Navigator on your computer after you have this file on your system. In case you need to uninstall this freeware, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs applet and uninstall. Don’t remove files manually as the options stored in the registry will not be removed. Please ensure Turbo Navigator is closed before uninstalling. Download from www.woundedmoon.org/win32/tn146setup.exe
