A newspaper reported that on one night in November last Telgi showered Rs 93 lakh on a dancer. This happened at Topaz at Grant Road, Mumbai. If I had to shoot a film on Telgi, I would visualise the scene like this: Telgi sitting on the dancing floor against a Muglai pillow, puffing at a hookah and R.S. Sharma, Chaggan Bhujbal, Vilasrao Deshmukh and several other high profile police officials and politicians performing a mujra to the tune of inhi logon ne le leena dupatta mera. Telgi would be showering the performers with currency notes. Normally in a situation like this, Telgi would have been afraid of being nabbed by the police but here the case is just the opposite. Men in khaki tremble as he points his finger at one police officer after another. Every policeman and politician is on the tenterhooks, lest Telgi name them in the scam. Once a scamster was showering thousands of rupees on a dancing girl in a bar. Suddenly the bar owner shouted, "Stop! We have come to know that you are throwing fake currency notes on the girl." The scamsters replied coolly, "I have also realised that all the jewellery that the dancing girl is wearing is fake. Even her hair and eyelashes are fake." |
