Ludhiana teacher gets top prize

Ludhiana, February 16
Ms Kamaljit Mangat, science mistress, Government Elementary School, Nizampur, has won the first prize in teaching aid competition organised during the Northern India Science Fair, 2004, at National Science Centre, New Delhi.

The first-prize winners from eight states, including Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and New Delhi, participated in the contest.

Ms Mangat won the first prize along with a cash prize of Rs 1,500. The topic was “Human eye” which aimed at inspiring children for eye donation.

Seminar on SAARC held

Khanna, February 16
A seminar on SAARC and its impact on the country’s foreign trade was organised at A.S. College, Khanna, by the Department of Commerce and Foreign Trade today. Prof S.K. Chadha from Panjab University, Chandigarh, was the chief spokesperson on the occasion.

Prof C.D. Jain, Prof Sanjeev and Prof Nishant Aggarwal also delivered lectures on the subject. OC
