Lectures on diet, pregnancy held Ludhiana, February 11 Dr Vaneet Kaur, Reader, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Christian Medical College and Hospital, informed students about signs of pregnancy, discomforts during pregnancy and ways to combat these. She also tried to dispel various myths followed during the prenatal period. Ms Ruma Singh, Senior Dietician, CMC, spoke on the importance of a balanced diet and consumption of meals, especially breakfast, for the adolescents. She discussed nutritional requirements for pregnant and lactating women. She also talked about the wrong food habits adopted by school and college students. Students actively participated in the question-answer round. Ms Harmit Kaur, Principal, and Ms Ritu Sood, Head of the Department of Home Science of the college thanked the guest faculty for bringing about awareness among the students. Meanwhile, the Commerce Department of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women organised a seminar here today. The topics of seminar were “Liberalisation”, “Information technology industry” and “Knowledge economy”. Dr Anita Nayyar, Head of the Department, GGN Khalsa College, discussed different challenges and the growing relevance of marketing in India and various strategies being adopted for liberalisation. Mr Parneet Singh, lecturer in GGN Khalsa College, discussed the potential of IT industry in India. |
Latest dental implant facility Ludhiana, February 11 A workshop on the subject would be held in the city shortly, Dr Vikram said. It would aim at apprising dentists about the latest advances in the field of dental implant. It would be conducted with the help of dental experts from Germany, he added. He said in Germany, they worked with leading Implantologists, Dr Dieter Haessler and Dr Jan Kielhorn at their centre. There dental procedures were carried out with a new generation implant known as ‘‘Xive’’. |
