The one-way traffic was resumed from Jammu to Srinagar early today and most of the Srinagar-bound traffic was now moving smoothly, Senior Superintendent of Police, NH, Amjad Parvez Mirza said here.

The authorities have also run an additional flight between Srinagar and Jammu to clear the rush of passengers, mostly government employees, wanting to celebrate Id in the Kashmir valley.

The frequent blockade of the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only surface link between Kashmir and the rest of the country and lifeline to the valley, has led to a steep rise in the price of essential commodities over the past one week.

The Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Mr Taj Mohiuddin, visited various areas of Srinagar city yesterday and took stock of various essential commodities. He asked officials to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply and also essential commodities to the valley.
