DC urged to hold regular monthly press meet
Our Correspondent

Sonepat, January 2
The Press club of Sonepat has urged the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Balwan Singh, to convene the monthly press conference regularly as has been directed by the state government.

A demand to this effect was made at a meeting of the journalists on the New Year’s Day at the Shree Ram Krishan Sadhna Kendra at Murthal,

about 8 km from here yesterday. Mr Pawan Bansal, president of the club, presided over the meeting.

The meeting criticised the district authorities for their failure to convene the monthly press conference in violation of the state government’s directive in this regard, and said that it was a slur on the democratic set up.

It also warned that if the DC failed to convene such a meeting in future, the club would take up the matter with the Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala, for taking stern action against the erring officials.

The meeting also expressed concern over the misuse of the Press sticker by several unauthorised persons and urged the district and police administration to take stern action against such persons. It also decided to issue Press stickers to all the mediapersons affiliated to the club on its own so that they did not face inconvenience in their work.

Earlier, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, sanchalak of the kendra, offered his greetings to the mediapersons on the New Year’s Day.

Anti-encroachment drive
