According to the prosecution, Fazal was seen fleeing from the scene of the encounter between ultras and a joint party of the local police and the CRPF in Dogan forests under Bani police station.

Jammu, January 2
Army Commander, Lt-Gen Hari Prasad, today inaugurated an accommodation complex for 100 families of jawans at Udhampur. The complex has been named in the memory of paratrooper Sanjog Chetri who was awarded the Ashok Chakra (posthumously).

Chetri joined the Army in March, 2002, and volunteered for 9 Para (special forces), an elite unit of the Army. On April 22 last year during Operation Sarpvinash, he was part of an assault on a terrorist hideout in the Hill Kaka area. As the team approached the terrorist hideout, it came under heavy automatic fire. Sensing grave danger to his comrades, Chetri seized the initiative and volunteered to assault the hideout.

He killed a terrorist and in the ensuing firing he received a gun shot on his right shoulder. Despite this, he continued with the assault and killed two more terrorists before laying his life.

The complex named after him comprises 14 buildings which would address the problem of the shortage of accommodation being faced by defence personnel.
