DirecWay Fusion

Hughes Escorts Communications Limited, India’s leading satellite service provider, has announced the launch of DirecWay Fusion — a new concept in the Indian retail space — to deliver a basket of services ranging from prepaid and post-paid payment services covering bill payments, ticketing and e-governance; education; broadband Internet and a host of other services to consumers. The company is planning to roll out about 500 Fusion centres in the neighbourhood format by the end of 2003 fiscal. Direcway Fusion will be taken to 200 Indian towns and cities by end 2005 taking the total number to 5,000.

Yash acquires GCS

Yash Technologies Inc., an information technology (IT) solutions company, has acquired Global Core Software (GCS), an SAP Business Partner and reseller to small and mid-size business (SMB) in the Northeast United States (US). As a part of the acquisition, GCS has changed its company name to Genesis Corporate Solutions, LLC. As a new division of Yash Technologies, Genesis expands its SAP solutions portfolio for SMBs and extends Yash’s operational network.

Quantum reorganises

Quantum Corp, a global leader in data storage, announced it is reorganising to create a stronger operational platform for profit and growth and leverage synergies across the company. Quantum’s two business groups, DLTtapeTM Group (DLTG) and Storage Solutions Group (SSG), are being integrated into one organisation with a consolidated operations function and three business units – Storage Devices, Media, and Storage Systems.
