Pretty woman As she talks with her usual zest, you realise that Preity Zinta's outstanding quality is her enthusiasm for everything she does. In between shots with Salman Khan on the sets of Dilne Jise Apna Kah, the heroine of Karan Johar’s forthcoming release Kal Ho Na Ho talks of her co-stars, motherhood and more. Excerpts from an interview: Which film are you shooting currently? This one is Dilne Jise Apna Kaha. It has me and Salman Khan and is directed by Atul Agnihotri. It also has Bhumika Chawla of Tere Naam. You have done some successful films with Salman, how is he as co-star? If I had to pick one quality of his, I'd say Salman Khan is cute. He is very cute, at least in the shots we've been in together. He has this spontaneity and cuteness whereby he can make the silliest thing look believable. His face can be so innocent, his eyes too look so innocent but he's very naughty. You have just done Kal Ho Na Ho with Shah Rukh. Give us your take on him? SRK is a one-take artiste. He's brilliant, he's really quick. Shah Rukh is a power house of energy, even though he has hurt his back, his energy level never dips on the sets. When you are working with him you have to be on your toes. If you had to choose one quality of every co-star what would you choose? Saif 's humour, his timing is something to die for. Hrithik 's intensity, his dedication to work is amazing, and Aamir's eye for detail. Bobby I adore for his happy-go-lucky casualness, Akshay's fitness and strength are his assets while Ajay's intensity, voice and eyes are remarkable. I am in awe with Mr Bachchan's presence, he towers above all. I also Anil Kapoor's sense of dedication. You have quite a few films lined up, haven't you? Kal Ho Na Ho releases on November 28, Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha will follow. There is Lakshya with Farhan Akhtar. Then there'll be Yash Chopra's film with Shah Rukh and Rani Mukherji. You have always wanted to work with Yash Chopra. Yes and I am very thrilled that I have been signed by him. I've admired his films, and now that I am going to be part of his body of work , I'm very happy. How was it being part of a Karan Johar production? He is known to pamper his artistes. I love him. He is multi-faceted and you have to discover his many qualities. He can design, choreograph, has an understanding of dance. He's witty, his humour is amazing and above all he's very caring. Plus he's the most clumsy guy in the world. He'll slip and fall over everything and anything. What do relationships mean to you? Relationships of any kind mean positivity. It could be friendship, love, mother-daughter relationship, professional relationship, but it has to be positive, it has to bring a smile to your face. I stay away from negative relationships. Who are you closest to? My mom and my friend Shagun, who lives in Delhi and is a mother of two kids. How do you keep fit? I work out. Whenever I get the time. I eat healthy but I can't starve. How important is it to have a beautiful face or does it take away from the performance of an actor? a face is important but if you have a pleasant face and there is an honesty in your face, the battle is won. It doesn't have to be the most beautiful face in the world. Your beauty regime? It's very simple. Take your make up off before you sleep but there have been times when I have slept with it on. I'm lucky my family members are blessed with good skin. So, my skin is my plus point. I drink lots of water. I don't do anything else. What about marriage and motherhood? Marriage will be the third phase of my life. I love kids and am dying to have them. Growing up was first, acting second and domesticity would be the third phase. I don't see myself working all my life. When I have kids I'll spend the initial years with my kids. TWF |
