The Taz razzmatazz of fusion and remix
THE most popular forms of music these days are Fusion and Remix and Stereo Nation is doing rendering kind of music right since their first launch in 1996. The music of the group is a fusion of Punjabi folk, Hindi and Caribbean music, which makes the group different from others. The key members of Stereo Nation are Tarsame Singh Jarnail (Taz), formerly known as Johnny Zee, who is a British-born Asian raised in Coventry, UK, and his Caribbean born mate, Kendell Smith. Some of the singers who impressed and influenced Taz are George Michael, Prince, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, R.D. Burman, Gurdas Maan and Kuldip Manak. Before Taz became part of Stereo Nation, he was popular as Johnny Zee, a solo artist who knew the tricks of mixing Punjabi vocals and rude rapping. At the same time Kendell was his manager. ‘Oh baby, don’t break my heart`85’ was the first major hit and there was no looking back after that. The other hits of the group are O Carol, Pyar ho gaya, Gallan goriyan, Laila, Nachan ge sari raat, Sikha De Hamein Pyaar and O Saathi Re. Apart from a successful singer, Taz is a lyric writer also. He believes that one can’t do justice by singing a song till he hasn’t written it himself. He himself is the lyricist of all songs he has sung. www.raaga.com/channels/hindi/various_artist/Stereo_Nation.html This is the best place to find the songs of Stereo Nation.
