The world is flying into stars, fast, very fast, But we love our land, And dig deep into it, To know our Mother ’s religious past. How did she pray, And under whose regime; Did she pray to Ram Or believed in Rahim! We kill, we murder, We slaughter, we dig; Our religion is a farce, A struggle between cow and pig! Trishuls, lathis and slaughtered cows, The concept of religion lies all swirled, ’Coz God is in heaven and all Is right with this stinking world!! — Vasu Kumar, Class XII, K.R.M. D.A.V. College, Nakodar.
Confused consumer What are we to do? Everything that we have, is fake or faulty. Soft drinks have pesticide, Chocolate needs insecticide, wheat is defective; milk ineffective. Anything that is tested, falls short of the standards, then the matter is rested, with confused consumers... What are we to do? We go by the lab tests and kick out the soft drink. We take up fruit juices ‘it’s a matter of time’, we think before even these are banned, because of faulty preparation, discovered only when, a raid on its factory is planned. What are we to do? Granaries have rats, worms wriggle out of our peas and water taps. Hygiene is not the top priority. Where millions starve, the confused consumers are in minority what are we to do? The water is impure; we boil it twice, and take out pebbles from pulses and rice. What are we to do? And whom do we trust? The FPO, the labs, the authorities, the ads? We must root out corruption, to end this confusion. And for the time being, The confused consumer Will have to make, His own decision. — Richa Sarin Std-XII,
