Nauheed Cyrusi is pinning her hopes on Inteha now

SHE’S being billed as the next Preity Zinta. Bubbly, spontaneous and talented, Nauheed Cyrusi created a sensation with the video of Sultan Ahmed Khan’s song, Piya Basanti. Since then, there’s been no looking back for this true-blue Mumbaikar. Now she is hoping her film Inteha is as big a success as her music video. Excerpts from an interview

From modeling to music videos to films. What next?

Right now I am thinking of nothing but my film Inteha. I am thrilled at the turn of events in my life and am hoping that the film will get a great response.

Do you credit the music video Piya Basanti for this turn of events?

Of course, I do. Piya Basanti changed my world forever. From an obscure Mumbai girl, I became a known face. Wherever I went people started recognising me and made me feel like a star. Then work started flooding in. Suddenly there were TV ads, film offers and music videos.

What is Inteha all about and what’s your role in it?

The film is a thriller. I play a headstrong girl who thinks she’s the last word on earth.

Have you analysed why your debut film Supari sank without a trace?

I was extremely disappointed. It took me some time to come to terms with reality. After that I promised myself not sign anything and everything but to look more carefully at the scripts and the people behind it.

Have you done that for your next film Inteha?

Yes, I have. Mukesh Bhatt spotted me in the Kwality Walls ad when he was casting for Inteha. I suppose he thought I had potential and signed me on. The script is gripping and the character I play is someone very unusual. I am very happy with the role.

Which are the other projects you are working on?

I am doing Ahmed Khan’s Lakeer , which is typical Bollywood bhelpuri. It stars Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, John Abraham, Sohail Khan. I get to do the regular Bollywood naach gaana in the film.

Do you find acting different from ad films and music videos?

Since I’ve done all three, film experience is totally different. Movies are made on a huge canvas and there’s obviously a greater challenge. To see yourself on the big screen gives you a high and the feeling is magical.

Do you have any idols in acting ?

I am a diehard fan of Madhuri Dixit and Kajol. I feel both of them are superb and unmatchable. I pray to God that someday I can reach their level.

As a star what are your strong points?

I can’t judge for myself but most people feel my eyes are very expressive and I can emote with them.

What is the golden rule that you follow?

I believe in live and let live. Once pack up has been called I am just like any other young girl. I dash home and love to hang around with friends.
