Jalandhar girls win title

Ludhiana, October 29
Riders from Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyala, Jalandhar, secured the first position in the Guru Nanak Dev University, Inter-College Cycling Championship for women at the velodrome of Punjab Agricultural University here on Tuesday.

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, finished runner-up while SDAM College of Dina Nagar, were third. On the basis of their performance during this one-day meet, eight cyclists Lakhvir Kaur, Navdeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Maninder Kaur, Rajwant Kaur, Vineet Kaur, Balbir Kaur and Nirmaljeet Kaur have been selected to represent the university in the All-India Inter-University Cycling Championship scheduled to be held at Patiala from November 12 to 16, according to Prof Tejinder Singh, national cyclist and trainer of the team.

PAU hockey team: Jatinder Pal Singh has been selected to lead the Punjab Agricultural University hockey team in the forthcoming North Zone Inter-Varsity Hockey Tournament slated to be held at Aligarh from November 2 to 8, according to Mr Harinder Singh Bhullar, Director Sports, PAU.

The names of the players are: Ravneet Singh, Pawaninder Singh, Savitoj Singh, Harpreet Singh, Inder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Sukhwant Singh, Surjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Gurpreet Brar, Promil Kumar, Jatinder Pal Singh, Ravinder Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Karanveeer Singh, Karanveer Dosanjh, Charanjeev and Ravinder Singh.

Mr Harpal Singh and Mr H.S. Bhullar will accompany the team as manager and coach, respectively.
