DREAM THEME
Dreaming of bouquets
Vinaya K. Manhas

DREAMING of bouquets has a close association with the symbol of dreaming of flowers. Of course, the condition of the flowers in the bouquet, their color, etc. is singnificant for interpreting the dream correctly.

As per the Indian context, for a young woman to see her lover or fianc`E9 present her with a bouquet of flowers is not a very good omen. It means that she shall face disappointments, and have to go through a long period of wait for something she wants. Otherwise, too, for a person to dream of getting a bouquet of flowers or giving one to someone else is not a lucky symbol as it predicts slight turn for the worse in the fortunes of the dreamer. Should the flowers be withered then it predicts serious problems and poverty.

As per western thought, seeing a beautiful and colourful bouquet of flowers in your dreams, predicts financial gains from unexpected sources. It also indicates surprisingly pleasant social events. Should the bouquet be withered, it is an omen of ill-will and bad news. A white bouquet denotes sad times ahead; while to see a colourful one foretells energy and cheerfulness.

Psychoanalytically speaking, seeing bouquets in dreams is an indication of acceptance of something that brings joy or honour. Should you see yourself receiving a bouquet then it shows that you recognise your abilities and at the same time expect others also to recognise them. You accept the presence of talents in others and in yourself. Here again the colour of the flowers has to be taken into consideration to interpret the dream correctly. Should the flowers of the bouquet be withered and dry, it symbolises the lack of appreciation that our talents our greeted with by the society.

A 33-year-old woman would often dream of seeing a bouquet of flowers being given to her. It would have beautiful flowers and a very pleasant aroma. As soon as she would thank the person who had given it to her and then look again at the flowers, she would find that they had all rotted and had worms crawling all over them. In horror, she would throw them away. The dream is a portrayal of the woman’s acceptance of the fact that she does not deserve all the appraisal and appreciation that she has been receiving. But she cannot stop accepting it even though she is aware that when the truth comes out she will have to accept her mistake.
