Pak army post destroyed in retaliatory fire

At least one Pakistani army post was destroyed and at least six of their regulars wounded when Indian troops opened retaliatory mortar fire on frontline Pakistani positions across the Line of Control in Poonch sector last night, official sources said today.

Taking a cue from jehadi elements in Pakistan who have turned madrasas as breeding ground for recruitment, militants operating in the Kashmir valley have started targeting the religious schools to fill up their dwindling ranks, a senior police officer said today.

Kidnapped youth’s body found
Jammu, October 8
The police has recovered the body of a youth, kidnapped by ultras on September 28, while the body of a special police officer (SPO) was found hanging from a tree in the forest area of Nagrota in Jammu district, official sources said here today.

Pak army post destroyed in retaliatory fire

Poonch, October 8
At least one Pakistani army post was destroyed and at least six of their regulars wounded when Indian troops opened retaliatory mortar fire on frontline Pakistani positions across the Line of Control in Poonch sector last night, official sources said today.

In reply to unprovoked Pakistani shelling last night, Indian soldiers made heavy retaliatory shelling on Pakistani formations, destroying their Bodhiyan post and damaging two of their bunkers.

JAMMU: Pakistani troops fired mortars at the district hospital at Poonch on Wednesday morning, but no damage was caused.

According to reports, two mortars were fired at the hospital from across the Line of Control around 7.45 am, which landed near the staff quarters.

Pakistani troops were engaged in firing heavy artillery on Indian positions in Poonch since 6.30 pm on Tuesday.

In shelling in Balnoi and Salotri areas of the sector, two persons were injured. The injured were hospitalised.

Indian troops retaliated and the exchange of fire continued till late in the afternoon.

BSF troops and Pakistani Rangers exchanged low-intensity fire along the international border in Samba, R.S. Pora, Ramgarh and Hirangar areas of the Jammu-Kathua sector. There were no casualties.

Teenaged students in madrasas are the main target of the militants which was evident with the rescue of three boys in the age group of 11 to13 years from the clutches of militants at Aham Sharief in the Bandipora area of North Kashmir on Saturday, Deputy Inspector General of Police, and in-charge Kupwara and Baramula districts, Ashok Kumar Gupta told reporters here.

The boys studying in Darul-Aloom Usmania located in Pulwama district were intercepted by police while they were being taken to the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) for arms training by the Al-Badr militant outfit, he said after handing over the boys to their parents today. — PTI

Kidnapped youth’s body found

Jammu, October 8
The police has recovered the body of a youth, kidnapped by ultras on September 28, while the body of a special police officer (SPO) was found hanging from a tree in the forest area of Nagrota in Jammu district, official sources said here today.

The sources said the body of Zaffar Iqbal(25), who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on September 28 from Nerojal area in Rajouri district, was recovered from Kot Behrot village last evening.

In another incident, the police found the body of SPO, Vinod Kumar, hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances in Sidhra forerst of Nagrota town in Jammu district. — PTI
