Ludhiana, October 4
Five students of the local Everest Public Senior Secondary School, who had won the District Inter-Zone Basketball Championship (under-17,) figure in the Ludhiana squad for the Punjab State Schools Championship scheduled to be held at Bathinda from October 6 to 8.
According to Mr Rajinder Sharma, Principal of the school, they have given admission to outstanding cagers, who are the trainees of the Baba Lodhiana Basketball Academy. The academy is run by the Punjab Basketball Association at the Guru Nanak Sports Complex under the watchful eyes of Dr S Subramaniam, a former Director, NIS, Patiala.
Mr Bachhitter Singh, District Education Officer, (Secondary), visited the basketball courts to wish the team good luck.
The names of the players are: Deepak Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Yadwinder Singh, Gurtej Pal Singh and Sukhbir Singh Dhillon ( Everest Public Senior Secondary School); Taranjit Singh Cheema, Richard John and Akash Gill ( Pothohar Khalsa Senior Secondary School), Rahil Choudhary, Gautam Grover and Inderpreet Singh ( BCM Arya Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar); Harmanpreet Singh (Guru Nanak International Public School).
Mr Rajwinder Singh and Mr Dhiraj will accompany the team as coach and manager, respectively.
