Five DSPs transferred Chandigarh, September 26 Mr Dhawan, who was recently promoted as DSP, has been posted in the Women and Child Support Unit (WACSU). Though the posting is not considered important it is also not considered a punishment posting. For Mr Dhawan, this is like returning to the main stream of policing after being suspended more than four years ago in the infamous ‘‘missing files’’ case. He was reinstated about a one and a half year ago, but was kept out of front-line postings. The work of the Women and Child Support Unit, where Mr Dhawan has been posted, was being handled by Mr Jaspal Singh since August 6. Before August 6, the work was handled by Mr Devinder Singh. Meanwhile, the Administration has also transferred Mr Jaspal Singh from the Operations Cell to the Traffic Wing, relieving Mr Om Prakash, who has been transferred to the Police Lines. Mr B.D. Bector will move out of the Police Lines to the Operations Cell and Training Wing, replacing Mr Jaspal Singh. Mr Devinder Singh will also look after the work of the CID wing in addition to the Economic Offences Wing. The post in the CID wing had fallen vacant following Mr Jagat Mohan’s retirement on July 31. On August 6, in the same controversial order, the IG had given additional charge to Mr Devinder Singh, while taking away the work of WACSU from him. Even though officials termed that Om Prakash’s transfer was a routine, police circles see this as a punishment for him. |
