SC admits appeals against HC verdict in Uphaar case
New Delhi
The Supreme Court today admitted appeals filed by the Delhi Police and the Delhi Municipal Corporation challenging a judgement of the Delhi High Court in the Uphaar cinema tragedy in which 59 people were killed by a devastating fire in June 1997.

Hospital rape: Ward boy held

The East district police today arrested Bhura (22), a ward boy who had allegedly raped an attendant of a patient at Shanti Mukand Hospital yesterday. A resident of a slum cluster in Seemapuri, the suspect was absconding ever since he committed the crime. Finally, his acquaintances led the police to his hideout, from where he was arrested.

They are not feeling safe anywhere. On September 4, criminals looted several vehicles on Delhi-Hapur Road bypass.

Team Amway put up a splendid performance to win the Daksh Prayas Golf Tournament at the Classic Golf Resort in Gurgaon. Amway were aided by the fine display of William Pickney and Prithviraj Bijlani, who aggregated a winning tally of 49 team stableford points.

BSF Director-General Ajay Raj Sharma, who emerged the winner in the individual stableford category of the Daksh Prayas Golf, with film actors Arjun Rampal, Javed Jaffri, Kapil Dev and Suresh Oberoi at the prize distribution function.
