Seagate insurance
Seagate
Technology, a hard disk drive supplier, has entered into collaboration
with state-owned National Insurance Company to offer insurance cover for
personal computer users in India. The scheme will offer comprehensive
three-year protection for a wide range of computer components, not just
hard disc drives, a company statement said. Called the "Peace of
Mind" programme, the scheme is being offered to individuals buying
new computers equipped with Seagate disk drives from August 18.While the
disk drives have to be exclusively Seagate, there is no restriction on
the brand of the computer, the statement said.
NIIT–varsity tie-up
India’s leading
technical university, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, MP, and
IT education institute, NIIT, will offer a 4-year B.Tech (software
engineering) degree program. The exclusive alliance will allow DNIIT
students from NIIT’s education network across 31 countries, to pursue
the University’s B.Tech (SWE) program, through e-learning and distance
learning. The four-year engineering degree program will equip students
with strong technical knowledge, software engineering skills and
practical experience, helping them to respond to the industry needs.
MoU with Uttaranchal
Microsoft Corporation
India Private Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
with the Government of Uttaranchal, for the roll out of Project Shiksha.
The MoU, being the first in a series of similar partnerships planned by
Microsoft, underlines a joint commitment by Microsoft and Uttaranchal
Government towards accelerating IT literacy in the state.
