Sonepat, June 2
It is for the first time in the history of Sonepat district that the girls from the colleges have topped in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, in all three faculties of BA (Part-I) of this year, the results of which were declared on Saturday.

Seema of Kharkhoda Girls College, not only got first position in the art faculty of the class, but also topped in overall merit list of the university by securing 338 out of total 400 marks. Similarly, Puja Goyal and Roochi Jindal of the Hindu Girls Colleges, Sonepat, remained university toppers in science and commerce faculties respectively.

After becoming the topper of the university, Seema has proved that it was not necessary that a student must be provided with the best facilities of boarding, lodging and urban atmosphere to become a merit student. “He or she should be sincere, committed and laborious in their studies besides maintaining regularity of study hours,” she remarked while talking to mediapersons on Sunday.

Seema, a resident of village Roha on Kharkhoda-Sampla Road, used to commute daily from her village. She passed her senior secondary examination from Government Senior Secondary School at Matindu village and obtained seventh position in the merit list of the Board of School education last year.

Regarding future plans of her studies and career, Seema wants to do postgraduate in mathematics after BA and then to try for top position in civil services. “I want to become an IAS officer and I will work hard for this,” she said.

A self-confident Seema also attributed this success to her teachers and parents, who always motivated her to achieve outstanding performance in the examination.
