Abhijeet was born and brought up in a small town in Kanpur. His parents were against his singing but Abhijeet went against his parent’s wishes to become a singer. Today, after a hard struggle of 13 years, he has finally made his position to the world of singing. For achieving this position, this singer struggled a lot in early days as a singer. Belonging to a middle class Bengali family, Abhijeet came to Mumbai to study accountancy but started struggling to become a singer. When things didn’t turn up the way he wanted, he decided to pack his bags and leave Mumbai. Then he got a call from R.D. Burman. It was for a big chance in Anand aur Anand.

After this film, started his second span of struggle. After a long wait, when no other offer materialised, Abhijeet started doing ghazal and stage shows to earn a livelihood.

He got another chance again when he was given an offer for film, Baaghi, in 1990. After this, he sang many songs and got Filmfare Award for Main Koi Asia Geet Gaoon from the film, Yes Boss.

He performed for many films like Baaghi, Sadak, Khiladi, Raja Babu, Yeh Dillagi, Yes Boss, Baadshah, Josh and Dhadkan and many more. After his success in playback singing he thought of singing pop. He launched two albums, Main Deewana Hoon and Tapori No.1. But both albums did not click commercially. After these two pop albums, he launched Aashiqui, which was appreciated by audience. Recently he has launched a pop album, Tere Bina, whose songs and video are chartbusters.
