One is firewall and the other lets you download large pictures
Raman Mohan

WE have all heard of the dangers of the Internet and cyberspace. Although some of these have been greatly exaggerated, it does not alter the fact that a computer connected to the Internet is vulnerable to attacks. Unfortunately, there are psychotics and criminals who feel compelled to make life difficult for others. Some of them know how to access files remotely. They are called crackers. To keep them out of our systems we need to use a strong firewall. But most firewalls cost a lot. Here is a chance to grab a good firewall free. The other featured freeware lets you download pictures from the Web easily and without having to temporarily suspend surfing while a large picture is downloaded. This is a small program and does not weigh on your system resources.

Outpost Firewall

The Outpost Personal Firewall system is the world’s most advanced firewall software, combining power and advanced features with a remarkably easy-to-use interface. To effectively use Outpost Firewall, you do not need to know the inner workings of Windows. Outpost Firewall’s capabilities are implemented as modules, files with the .dll extension. Each module is independent and can easily be added to an installed system. It can be used without any customisation. Besides, it lets you easily create a secure configuration quickly using system prompts and default settings without interrupting the work. The interface performs complicated adjustments to the security of the system with just a few keystrokes. Many settings can be used to restrict network access both to the computer and from the applications. Advanced users can also adjust service protocols and create special security facilities as required. It can work in stealth mode so other networked computers can detect the computer. The modular structure of the system lets you add new protective modules in the form of plug-ins. The system is compatible with all versions of Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT and XP. You can restrict a list of applications having access to the network and specify acceptable protocols, ports and directions of access (incoming or outgoing) for each of these applications.
