Dream Theme

Dreaming of wounds
Vinaya K. Manhas

Dreams of wounds can be of different kinds. Wounds can be very dirty and festering and horrible to look at, or you could dream of being wounded but unable to feel any pain or distress.

As per Indian thought, to see yourself wounded in your dreams denotes mounting debts. But if, on the contrary, you dream of wounding someone else then you are warned to beware of getting wounded and also to be prepared for some sort of loss. If you see someone inflicting wound on you then you are warned to be patient. For patience is the only way that you shall be able to triumph over your enemies. You shall stand to gain in financial deals. Your romantic life shall also look up.

As per western thought, to dream of being wounded denotes bad times ahead as also unfavourable turn in financial affairs. Should you see others wounded then you are warned to beware of those who claim to be your friends but do not have your welfare at heart. If you dream of applying medication to your wounds then it means that you shall have reason to congratulate yourself on your good fortune.

Psychoanalytically speaking, to dream of wounds denotes emotional distress. If we dream of getting wounded, then it denotes our feelings of being an emotional victim. To dream of hurting others means that we are aware of our own efforts to hurt others through aggression or a sharp tongue. Should the wound be large, gory and ugly, it suggests a lot of violence, but should it be a small one then it signifies a focused attack. It could also stand for an unpleasant experience which we should take note of and learn from.

A 19-year-old boy would often see himself bleeding and badly hurt. Somewhere at the back of his mind he would be aware that he had inflicted the wounds himself on his own body. The dream symbolises guilt. The boy was being hard on himself because he felt that he had harmed someone else.
