Rahul stars in Hansraj’s title victory

New Delhi, May 19
A breezy knock of 89, studded with ten boundaries and three sixes, by Rahul Yadav and an all-round display by Anmol Sharma (64 and 3 for 29) guided Hansraj Model School to a 50-run victory against Salwan Boys School to lift the first Harry Cup Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the Central School ground, Sainik Vihar.

Hansraj Model School won the toss and elected to bat. They made a handsome score of 286 for 5 in 40 overs, with the help of Rahul’s spitfire knock.

Salwan Boys could not overtake the Hansraj total as Anmol Sharma and Tarun Kumar displayed a fine bowling spell, taking three wickets each while Gaurav and Deepak claimed two wickets each.

Rahul Yadav was named the man of the match while Anmol Sharma got the best batsman award. Sawan Saini was adjudged the best bowler while Yogesh Nagar won the man of the tournament award.

Scores: Hansraj Model School: 286 for 5 in 40 overs (Rahul Yadav 89, Anmol Sharma 64, Prateek Vadera 46 n o, Kumar Abhishek 40 n o, Sawan Saini 3 for 43).

Salwan Boys: 236 all out 39.3 overs (Tarun Chaudhary 70, Yogesh Nagar 45, Anmol Sharma 3 for 29, Tarun Kumar 3 for 66, Gaurav Jangra 2 for 30, Deepak Dabas 2 for 6).

Coffee Day Championship Rally from May 24

New Delhi, May 19
The first national level Coffee Day Championship Car Rally will be held on May 24 and 25 at the scenic coffee country of Chikmagalur. Coffee Day, in association with the Motor Sports Club of Chikmagalur (MSCC), is organising the rally under the guidance of the Motor Sports Association of India (MAI), which in turn is governed by the International Motor Sports Authority (FIA).

The Championship Rally will be one of the nine certified calendar events, to be held every year for the next eight years. All the drivers/co-drivers and instructors should necessarily participate in all the nine events to contend for the National Championship. Over 20,000 rally enthusiasts from all over the country are expected to converge at the coffee country to witness the rally. The rally will be flagged off from Chikmagalur on May 24 at 10 am and will culminate at 6 pm. There will be a total of ten laps for the two days through two tracks in Blue Mountain estates. Twenty-two teams will participate in the two-day event. MSCC has been organising the rally ever since the formation of the club in 1979.

DDA Academy teams in semis

New Delhi, May 19
Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Academy B and C teams qualified for the semi-finals of the third Ambuja Cup Five-a-Side Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium on Monday.

In the first quarter-final match, DDA Academy B team trounced St. Columba’s B 11-0. Twin brothers Humer and Addnein struck three goals each while William Ananel, Khushal and Galarav Rawat were the other goal-scorers.

In the second quarter-final, DDA Academy C team crushed St. Columba’s C 5-0. Kulbhushan scored three goals while Anupam accounted for two.

In other matches, Media drew with Institute FC B 2-2. Anupam Thapa scored two goals for Media while Rajan and Chandan scored a goal each for Institute.

Institute B then beat Media A 5-1. Manoj (2), Mahesh, Sujeet and Raja were the scorers of Institute. Hemant reduced the margin for Media.

Tuesday’s fixture: Amar Jyoti vs Institute A (4.30 p m); Ambuja vs Institute (5.15 p m)— Ambedkar Stadium.

Pawan stars in PNB’s victory

Pawan Kochar played an all-round role (47, 5x4 and 4 for 29) to help Punjab National Bank beat S B Youth Club by ten runs in a league match of the Rajiv Gandhi Smriti North Delhi Cricket League.

Scores: PNB: 210 for 9 in 30 overs (Neeraj Sharma 56, 9x4; Pawan Kochar 47, 5x4; Sukhwinder Singh 25, Jang Bahadur 2 for 30, Sunny Kanojia 3 for 15).

S B Youth Club: 200 all out in 33.2 overs (Surinder 61, 1x6, 7x4; Ajay 23, Puneet 27, Pawan Kochar 4 for 29, Dinesh Kumar 2 for 49).

Manav Sharma hits ton

Eleven-year-old Manav Sharma hit a century as United Delhi Cricket Academy beat Bharat National Cricket Academy by 129 runs in an Under-12 Friendship Cup Cricket Tournament at the Bharat National Public School ground.

Scores: United Delhi Academy: 252 for 2 in 35 overs (Manav Sharma 133, 97b, 4x16, 6x1; Abhay Sharma 38, 4x5; Varun Anand 28, 4x3, 6x1).

Bharat National Academy: 123 all out in 30 overs (Saurabh Nischal 48, 4x5, 6x1; Siddhant Gupta 3 for 23, Anubhav Jain 2 for 19, Mohit Bhatt 2 for 23).

Modern Academy win

Modern Child Cricket Academy, Punjabi Basti (Nagloi) defeated Ganga School by nine runs and entered the semi-final of the Jain Shining Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the Ganga School ground.

Scores: Modern Child Academy: 139 all out in 24.3 overs (Ajay Sharma 45, Suresh 43, Krishan 3 for 45, Virender 3 for 22). Ganga School: 130 all out in 28.4 overs (Krishan 37, Virender 45, Prashant 4 for 25, Nikhil 3 for 22).

R P Academy beat ASPM Centre. R P Cricket Academy beat ASPM Coaching Centre, Punjabi Bagh by eight wickets in the fourth Peacock Under-13 Cricket Tournament at the Gargi College ground.

Scores: ASPM Coaching Centre: 105 all out in 25.4 overs (Navneet 45, Harjinder 3 for 15, Manik 3 for 17, Pawan 2 for 15). R P Academy: 106 for 2 in 21 overs (Rahul Baluni 43, Raghav Kakad 40 n o).

Kaif, Raghav power Mayapuri win

Kaif Mohd hit a half century and Raghav Kakkar claimed three wickets for 32 runs to help Mayapuri Club beat Delhi Public School, R K Puram by two runs in the DDCA Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the DPS ground. Electing to bat, 151 all out in 44.5 overs.

Scores: Mayapuri: 151 all out in 44.5 overs (Kaif Mohd. 51, Vaibhav Rawal 42, Pranay Chakravarti 38, Pranav Chand 5 for 21, Tapis Gupta 3 for 56).

DPS, R K Puram: 149 all out in 44.1 overs (Tejeswari Yadav 73, Raghav Kakkar 3 for 32, Puneet Walia 2 for 16, Prateek Sikka 2 for 44).

Matiyala Cup Cricket

The seventh Matiyala Cup Cricket Tournament will be held from May 22 at the Matiyala Sports Club ground. Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament.

The title winners will receive a cash award of Rs 11,000 while the runners-up will pocket Rs 5100.

Ajay, Jaikishan shine for Global Academy

Swashbuckling knocks by Ajay Joshi, who slammed 70 off just 36 balls, and Jaikishan Tokas, who cracked 83 off 59 balls, enabled Global Academy beat Delhi Cantonment by five wickets in a thrilling match of a triangular cricket tournament at the Delhi Cantt ground.

Hosts Delhi Cantt, batting first, hoisted a challenging total of 243 for 6 in 30 overs, mainly on the strength of a fine century by Manoj, who hit 106 off 74 balls.

But with Ajay Joshi and Jaikishan Tokas in a plundering mood, the hapless Delhi Cantt bowlers were put to the sword to help Global Academy race to victory for the loss of five wickets.

Scores: Delhi Cantt: 243 for 6 in 30 overs (Manoj 106, 74b; Sonu 36, 50b; Pardeep 1 for 27; Lalit Tyagi 2 for 30, Narender 2 for 37, Deepak 1 for 25).
