Sonepat, May 19
The management of the Kanya Gurukul Khanpur Kalan and Bhainwal Kalan villages has decided to introduce 12 diploma and degree courses to make these educational institutions self-dependent in education and sports.

This was stated by Mrs Krishna Malik, president of the Kanya Gurukul Mahasabha while presiding over the meeting of the Mahasabha held at Khanpur Kalan village about 30 km from here yesterday.

She disclosed that the courses would be medical lab technology, physiotherapy, hospital management, electrical engineering and sports events.

The Mahasabha, she said, would set up a girls’ law college after the name of Padamshree Subhashni Devi, on the premises of the Gurukul at Khanpur Kalan village and the state government has already issued the no-objection certificate in this regard.

Referring to various welfare schemes being carried out in the institutions, she claimed that steps have been taken to ensure uninterrupted power and water supplies for the students as well as maintain the feeling of security among them.

She also said that the work for the construction of the main gate on Gohana-Panipat Road and widening and strengthening of Khanpur Road has been started. The Mahasabha, she said, would also establish the Bhagat Phool Singh Marg. A sum of Rs 10 lakh has been earmarked for the construction and repair of inner roads of the institution. Mrs Malik said that a sports nursery has been established whereas preparations are afoot for a sports stadium at Khanpur Kalan village.

The Haryana Roadways authorities have been asked to introduce a direct bus service up to Khanpur village for girl students. She said that steps are also being taken for the establishment of a radio-station, construction of staff quarters in the Ayurvedic college and a hostel for the women polytechnic students.

She expressed gratitude to the gram panchayat which had contributed 28 acres to the Mahasabha.
