Sunrise

When the dawn breaks like

the smile of an innocent child

and the cock says doodle-doo,

There’s someone who is also

rising among the friendly clouds.

It’s sun, no one else my friend

with its dark red stripes cutting across the sky.

It looks like a majestic king coming all the way

from the orange sky with horses drawing chariot

and the king wearing a ring.

Everyone is there to welcome him

weather young, old, timid or bold and child or matured.

It feels like a lover’s melodies that’s sweetly played in

tune and like a red rose that’s newly sprung in June.

We feel great when we see it.

A sense of new hopes, aspirations and passion bloom

and shows the way to success and hope.

My mother

My mother is full of affection.

with love and patience,

God made this relation.

She gave me birth.

Her love is so much,

That there is no derth.

She suffers but,

Never utters a word.

Her love is great and rare.

God made mothers as he,

Could not be everywhere.

SARS

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome,

It will take you away from home.

It is a pneumonia-like disease,

social contacts, for you will cease.

As you have to stay in isolation,

SARS has struck many nations.

It can stop many of our tasks,

For its prevention, use white masks.

High fever and breathing problems,

Pain and sorrow, in disguise comes.

A cure for it is yet not there,

The thought of having it, one can’t bear.

People are being checked at airports,

Anybody can have it, people of all sorts.

A cure for SARS will surely come.

Peace and happiness will then be wholesome.

D.C. Model Senior Secondary School, Ferozepore.
