World Red Cross Day falls on May 8

Wherever disaster strikes any part of the world, the Red Cross rises to the occasion and carries out relief operations to assist the victims. Henri Dunant, a Swiss national, started the Red Cross in 1864. It now has a big network, which covers almost every country in the world. The Indian Red Cross Society was incorporated under the Parliament Act, XV, of 1920 on March 20, 1920. Since then it has been working to provide succour not only in India but also in other countries. We are providing you a list of Websites, which will give you information about the activities carried by the Red Cross.

This site belongs to the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC). Complete information regarding ICRC, including mandate, history, structure, activities, finances and budget is listed here. This site provides ample information about different issues like International humanitarian law, treaties and customary law, refugees and IDPs, emblem and much more. It contains latest news about relief operations carried worldwide and special Iraq news, which is listed by date. You can make online donation to help the ICRC protect and assist victims of war worldwide. These donation will be entirely allocated to the ICRC programmes in the country you select. This site is available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic languages.
