Paying the price of stardom

THIS refers to the write-up "Salman, Vivek script a Bollywood masala" (April 5). What happened between Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai is something which often happens among modern youth. Just look around, you will find young people falling in love and being jilted by their partners but their actions are hardly noticed.

But when the same thing happens among filmstars, it comes under the scrutiny of the whole nation. This is the price they have to pay for being celebrities. They lose their right to privacy. How sad!

City Beautiful

This refers to Reeta Sharma’s "Chandigarhians have evolved a culture of their own" (March 29). The writer has only talked about the beautiful buildings clean roads and gardens. This is actually external beauty. But what about the internal beauty? What about the peoples living there? Are they cooperative and understanding or only materialistic? Chandigarh is a soulless city. Anybody without soul is never beautiful.

Well played

This refers to Ashwini Bhatnagar’s write-up "No matter what, applause is what they got" (March 29). The Indian team deserves approbation for its final recovery from initial debacles to reach the finals. Moreover, it was no mean achievement for our players to lose to the best team in the world. All the players under Saurav Ganguly played to their potential and did the entire nation proud. Is it not a matter of great honour for India that Sachin Tendulkar was declared "Man of the Tournament"?
