Nirankari Mission holds 50 blood donation camps

New Delhi, April 20
Sant Nirankari Mission organised 50 blood donation camps in various parts of the country. The Head of the Mission, Baba Hardev Singh inaugurated the camp in Sant Nirankari Colony in the Capital where more than 1,000 devotees turned up to donate blood.

While eight such camps were organised in Uttar Pradesh, seven were organised in Maharashtra, four in Haryana, three each in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat and two in Jammu and Kashmir and one in Chandigarh, Guwahati, Agartala, Kolkata, Raipur, Bangalore and Chennai.

The camp was organised as part of the Manav Ekta Divas observed to pay homage to the former head of the mission, Baba Gurbachan Singh and others who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of humanity.

The mission also honoured Dr Purshotam Lal for being conferred the Padam Bhushan for the year 2003. Dr Lal was presented a citation by retired Brig Shamsher Singh, member incharge, medical health and social welfare.

Dr Lal recounted a long association with the Mission and said that the blessings of the satguru have been a source of inspiration to him.

AJIT SINGH HOCKEY
Jalandhar School blank GHPS Loni Road

Doaba Khalsa Model Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar blanked Guru Harkrishan Public School (GHPS), Loni Road (Delhi) 5-0 in a Group B match of the first All-India Sahibzada Ajit Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at the Shivaji Stadium on Sunday.

After a keen fight, Jalandhar forged ahead in the 17th minute through Harpreet Singh. Sharanjit Singh made it 2-0 two minutes later while Shivbir Singh hit home the third goal in the 20th minute to complete the first-half scoring.

In the second half, Gauravdeep Singh made it 4-0 while Shivbir completed the tally.

Sri Guru Hari Singh Mahavidyalaya, Sirsa beat Khalsa College, Amritsar 3-0 in a Group A match. Sardar Singh scored the first and third goals while Gagandeep Singh accounted for the second goal.

Bhupendra Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Moga trounced Guru Harkrishan Public School, Fateh Nagar, Delhi 7-0 in a Group D match.

In a lopsided match, Gurtej Singh opened the goal-glut for the winners in the fourth minute when he scored a fine field goal. After that, there was a deluge of goals with Jagtar Singh scoring the second and seventh goals, Sarabjit

Singh accounting for the third and fourth goals while Gurdeep Singh and Anmol struck home the fifth and sixth goals, respectively. All the goals were field goals. In Group C, Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Ropar (Punjab) beat GGS Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sarhali (Amritsar) 3-2.

In a see-saw battle, Amit Bhargav put Ropar in the lead when he scored a field goal in the 12th minute. After a hard battle, Amritsar equalised through Pardeep Singh four minutes before the interval.

Varinder Kumar regained the lead for Ropar eight minutes into the second half when he converted a penalty corner and then consolidated the lead with a brilliant field goal (3-1). But Amritar gave the jitfters to Moga when Jagsheer Singh reduced the margin in the 58th minute when he converted a penalty corner.

But in the rest of the session, the Moga boys hung on to their slender lead to emerge victorious.

Rajasthan Colts subdue South Delhi Colts

A fiery bowling performance of 4 for 27 off eight overs by medium-pacer Sumit Mathur and a quickfire 41, off 46 balls, studded with two fours by skipper Rohit Jhalani helped Rajasthan Colts, Jaipur beat South Delhi Colts by 17 runs and enter the quarter-final of the 13th All-India Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground on Sunday.

Set a target of a modest 149, South Delhi Colts folded up for 131 in 39 overs. Batting first, after winning the toss, Rajasthan Colts profited from the good knocks of Rohit Jhalani, Abhijeet Sharma and Anshu Jain.

Sumit Mathur was presented the Pepsi man of the match award by chief guest Vijay Chopra.

Scores: Rajasthan Colts: 148 in 34.1 overs (Rohit Jhalani 41, Abhijeet Sharma 24, Anshu Jain 21, Sant Rana 3 for 22, Amanjeet 3 for 32, Franklin 2 for 27). South Delhi Colts: 131 in 39 overs (Deepak Sharma 35, Sumit Mathur 4 for 27, Pankaj Gupta 3 for 26).

Salwan Boys storm into final Hedgewar tourney

An all-round performance by Yogesh Nagar (3 for 17 and 58) and a dashing knock by Tarun Chaudhary (63) helped Salwan Boys School defeat Gyan Bharti South Delhi Academy by eight wickets and entered the final of the first Dr Hedgewar Cup Cricket Tournament at the Rashtriya Swabhiman Khel Parishad ground. Yogesh was named the man of the match.

Salwan Boys made 149 for 2 in 26.1 overs. Scores: Gyan Bharti Academy: 148 for 9 in 40 overs (Prateep Pawar 91, Manik Wadhwa 17, Yogesh Nagar 3 for 17, Sawant Saini 2 for 18, Shobjit Kaushik 2 for 19).

Salwan Boys: 149 for 2 in 26.1 overs (Tarun Chaudhary 63, Yogesh Nagar No 58).

Manish Kaushik deadly

Deadly bowling of 5 for 29 by Manish Kaushik and good knock of 61 by Gaurav Sharma helped Subhania Club beat Sadar Bazar Youth by five wickets in the first Prabha Devi Under-19 Cricket Tournament at the Bharat Nagar ground.

Manish was named the man of the match. Scores: S B Youth: 147 all out in 38.2 overs (Narender Sood 50, Surender Kumar 32, Manish Kaushik 5 for 29, Jasbir Yadav 3 for 15).

Subhania Club: 150 for 5 in 24.3 overs (Gaurav Sharma 61, Naveen Vashith 33, Narender Sood 3 for 28).

Ravi Brothers defeated Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) by six wickets in an A-II Division match of the DDCA Super League at the Central Secretariat ground. Kulvinder Singh made a splendid 76.

Scores: DTC: 178 all out in 38.4 overs (Kulvinder Singh 76 n o, Mahesh Sharma 34, Pradeep Deswal 3 for 35, Ankur Buddhiraja 3 for 36). Ravi Brothers: 179 for 4 in 37.3 overs (Neeraj Sharma 56, Mohit Kaushal 36, Mahesh Sharma 2 for 30).

Delhi Colts beat Essex Farms by 111 runs in an A-II Division match at the Central Secretariat ground.

A devastating bowling display of 5 for 24 by Chetan Chopra and a dashing half century by Raman Gujral helped West Delhi Cricket Academy beat Indian Airlines Regional Sports Club by five wickets in the second Rajdhani Cup Cricket Tournament at the Najafgarh Sports Club ground.

Scores: Indian Airlines: 197 all out in 35 overs (Lalit Chaudhary 60, Praveen Mishra 36, Chetan Chopra 5 for 24).

West Delhi: 198 for 5 in 33.2 overs (Raman Gujral 59, Virat Kohli 47, Harvinder Singh 2 for 24, Saurabh Shukla 2 for 41).

Gillette rout Hughes

Gillette beat Hughes Software by five wickets in the Reebok Cricket Tournament.

Deadly bowling performances of 3 for 14 by leg-spinner Senam Trikha and 3 for 23 by Tarandeep Singh helped Sumit Dogra Cricket Academy beat Kanpur Cricket Academy by seven wickets and entered the final of the first All-India Ghaziabad Mahanagar Cricket Academy Under-14 Tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Kanpur Cricket Academy made 56 all out in 22.3 overs.
