Board to conduct exams in double shift

Sonepat, April 14
The Board of School Education Haryana is thinking of conducting the annual school examination in double shift from the next academic session. According to a report, this system, if implemented, would reduce the number of examination centres and the staff members needed for examination duty. Moreover, it would also bring down expenditure of the Board. In 2001, the Board authorities had announced that the middle standard annual examinations would be held at the school level itself. However, due to the large number of middle class students, the Board stood to loose lots of money generated through examination fees. Hence, the Board authorities dropped the ‘idea’ and decided to continue to conduct the middle school annual examinations.

Sources revealed that the Board has already included the middle standard examinations with higher secondary examination for the year 2004. Hitherto, the Board was conducting the middle standard annual examinations during the end of February, matric examination in the first week of March and senior secondary examination in the last week of March.

But the Board had deferred this structure and started conducting the senior secondary school examinations during March and the middle and matric examinations in April.

During the current session, the Board is conducting the middle standard annual examinations and the matric examination on alternate day. This system, the Board authorities claimed, provided time to the students to prepare for the next examination. OC
