TB eradication camp

Ludhiana, April 1
As a part of a campaign launched by the District Health Department to eradicate tuberculosis completely, a TB awareness camp was organised at Government Hospital, Mansooran, near here, today.

As many as 50 sputum samples collected from various persons were tested for TB. Addressing the participants on the occasion, Dr Ramesh Kumar, In charge of the hospital, called upon his staff to spread awareness about the disease. He told the participants about the symptoms of the disease and said TB was a curable disease and there was nothing to panic about it.

B’ball trials from April 4

Ludhiana, April 1
The Ludhiana District Basketball Association (LDBA) will conduct trials at Guru Nanak Stadium here on April 4 and 5 to select boys as well as girls for the Punjab State Sub-Junior Basketball Championship scheduled to be held at Nawanshahr from April 16 to 19.

According to Mr Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary, LDBA, players born on or after January 1, 1990, can participate in the trials. The interested should report at the venue at 4 p.m. They are required to bring with them age certificate from their respective institutes.

A team of PUDA demolished unauthorised structures behind the commercial complex in Phase I here yesterday. Two kitchen sheds being used by hotels in the market were also removed.
