Rare abdominal
surgery performed Ludhiana, March 13 Dr Deepak Issacs, Medical Superintendent Deepak Hospital while talking to mediapersons here yesterday said that cancer of the rectum was a dreaded disease and that it could be removed through surgery with or without Radio and Chemotherapy. Increased consumption of animal and fat low-fibre diet posed risk to cancer of the large bowel and rectum. A “58-year-old patient complained of increasing constipation and diarrhorea. Usually a very major operation is undertaken by opening the whole abdomen but in this case, Laparoscopic Abdomino Perineal Resection was performed with an ultrasonic knife under video guidance. There was hardly any blood loss, the patient could start the oral feed on the very first day and could be discharged within 48 hours”, said Dr
