New Delhi, March 5
A dashing knock of 76 by former Test player Vijay Dahiya and an unbeaten 62 by R R Parida, supported by a fiery spell of 4 for 41 by Rajat Bhatia, helped Indian Airlines beat Bright Club by five wickets in the Roshanara Cricket Tournament at the Roshanara Club ground.

Indian Airlines won the toss and opted to field. But it seemed like an unwise decision as Bright Club openers Sanjay Bambal and Vivek Kumar indulged in lusty hittings to hoist 95 runs for the opening wicket.

And then Rajinder Bisht and Akash Malhotra put on 78 runs for the fourth wicket. Sumit Narwal gave a fitting finish to Bright’s knock when he cracked 31 runs off 13 balls with one four and three sixes.

But for a formidable batting lineup like that of Indian Airlines, Bright’s total of 220 was too meagre, and expectedly, Vijay Dahiya and Ishan Ganda put on 105 runs for the opening wicket to give a blazing start to the Airlines’ knock.

Then R R Parida took over to slam an unbeaten 62 to anchor Airlines to a comfortable victory.

Scores: Bright Club: 220 in 44.5 overs (Rajinder Bisht 49, 6x4, 44b; Sanjay Bambal 45, 6x4, 75b; Vivek Kumar 40,5x4, 72b; Sumit Narwal 31, Akash Malhotra 28, Rajat Bhatia 4 for 4, Sonu Sharma 2 for 32, Sukhvinder 2 for 47).

Indian Airlines: 224 for 5 in 38 overs (Vijay Dahiya 76, 14x4, 58b; R R Parida 62, 8x4, 78b; Ishan Gandha 29, Nischal Gaur 2 for 34, Surinder 2 for 40).
