Ranga's Toon Tales

DR Bruno KreiskyBruno Kreisky

DR Bruno Kreisky was in Delhi about two decades ago as Chancellor of Austria. A popular figure in Europe and a leader of the Socialist Party who plunged into political activity and also had a taste of jail life, was a welcome guest. Born in 1911, Kreisky graduated from Vienna University and joined the Austrian Foreign Service in 1946 and served in various capacities before he became Minister for Foreign Affairs in 1959. He was chosen Federal Chancellor in 1970 and remained in that position till 1983.

During his stay in Delhi he had a busy schedule. However, it was possible to meet him during one of his engagements and protocol was kind enough to let me have access to him. He was immensely pleased to look at the sketch and readily signed on it. He took a similar sketch back home with him.
