Board gears up to curb copying menace
Our Correspondent

Sonepat, February 28
The Board of School Education, Haryana, has decided to take effective steps for curbing the menace of copying in the ensuing annual middle, matriculation and plus 2 examinations in the state.

According to official sources, the board plans to shift the examination centres in privately managed schools in the villages to the neighbouring urban areas as these centres had become notorious for copying in the past. Under the new plan, the board will set up examination centres in the schools of urban areas instead of in the privately managed schools of the villages.

Official sources also revealed that the board would also raise the number of flying squads for carrying surprise raids and checking of examination centres in the state. This would minimise the chances of copying by the examinees in the urban areas.

The authorities of the board will take stern action against the duty supervisors if any examinee is caught red-handed on the charge of copying in a room supervised by him. Hitherto, the board authorities were shifting the examination centres in the local schools in a bid to curb the menace of copying immediately after receiving complaints about copying by the students. But this step failed to check the copying menace effectively.

The board is contemplating changing the course of plus 2 students from the academic year 2004-2005. In the meantime, it has announced the changing of course for class IX students from the next academic session beginning from May 1 next.
