Dream Theme

Dreaming of garbage
Vinaya Katoch Manhas

DREAMS of garbage are not very pleasant, more so if you see yourself covered in dirt.

As per Indian thought, seeing someone throw garbage at you is not a good omen, as it foretells enemies attempting to ruin your character. You should be very careful after such a dream so that you can escape their vile intentions. If you see yourself standing in a garbage dump, then it is an indication of troubles coming your way. If, however, you see yourself standing on top of it, then it is a good omen, for it means that you shall stand to gain respect and success. Should you dream of searching for something in a garbage dump and finding either that or some other precious object, then, too, it is considered a lucky omen. Fate shall favour you to reach high and progress.

As per western thought, to see heaps of garbage in your dreams means that you might earn a bad name for yourself and that fortune might not favour you. If you are in love, such a dream indicates estrangement from your lover. However, if you dream of looking for and finding something in the garbage, it is a good dream. It means that you stand to gain in the near future, although such success will come only after a lot of struggle.

Psychoanalytically speaking, dreams of garbage denote the necessity of confronting certain thoughts, emotions and memories, and resolving them for a happier tomorrow. To see yourself dirtied by garbage means that you are letting old ways and habits wreck havoc in your life. To see yourself collecting garbage means that you might be making wrong decisions and assumptions, which shall prove harmful to you in the long run. Such a dream advises you to try and sort out your life and improve your time management skills.

Often a man of 34 would often dream of himself as a boy standing on the road and people throwing out trash and garbage on him from windows of high buildings. This dream would leave him feeling nauseated. He could not recall any such experience in the past which might possibly have resulted in such a dream. The dream was not actually the result of a similar experience in childhood, but of various other experiences in his childhood, which he still remembered and which often influenced his actions. In short, he could not get over his childhood memories. This was also getting in the way of his relationships with people. What he needed to do was to let go of the past and move on.
