ICU on wheels

Ludhiana, February 10
Hero DMC Heart Institute, the prestigious 150-bedded superspeciality cardiac care centre of the region, has introduced “Intensive Care Ambulance” for heart patients.
The ambulance is equipped with facilities like the Ventilator, defibrillator, monitor, oxygen, infusion pumps and life-saving drugs.

A special trained team of doctors and nurses has been appointed for the management of patients in the ambulance.

Sarabjit athlete of the year

In the 29th athletics meet for boys of Guru Nanak National College of Doraha here today, Ranjit Singh Sekhon won the 100 m dash, while Harinder Kumar came second and Arwinder Kumar came third.

The other results were as follows: 5,000 m race — Gurmit Singh 1, Prem Singh 2, Navneet Kaur 3; javelin throw — Jarnail Singh 1, Sarabjit Singh 2, Satwinder Singh 3; high jump — Sarabjit Singh 1, Malwinder Singh 2, Rajvir Singh 3; 200 m — Ranjit Singh 1, Yadwinder Singh 2, Ravi Kant Sharma 3; shot put — Sandeep Singh 1, Amanpreet Singh 2, Jaspreet Singh 3; long jump — Amardeep Singh 1, Gurdeep Singh 2, Amit Kumar 3; hammer throw — Sandeep Singh 1, Satwinder Singh 2, Hardeep Singh 3; triple jump — Sarabjit Singh 1, Ranjit Singh 2, Yadwinder Singh 3.

Discus throw — Sandeep Singh 1, Jarnail Singh 2, Surinderjit Singh 3; 1,500 m race — Prem Singh 1, Maninder Singh 2, Varinderpal Singh 3; 400 m race — Sarabjit Singh 1, Arwinder Kumar 2, Prem Singh 3; 100 m (Class IV employees) — Harpreet Singh 1, Manjit Singh 2, Kewal Singh 3.

Three-legged race — Sukhbir Singh and Ajaydeep Singh 1, Kulwant Singh and Jaspreet Singh 2, Dilkhushal and Malwinder Singh 3; sack race — Pushpinder Singh 1, Roshan Lal 2, Gurinder Singh 3. Sarabjit Singh was adjudged the best athlete of the year.

The meet was inaugurated by Prof Indira Bhatia, Principal of Government College Karamsar Rara Sahib. In her inaugural speech, she urged students to work with dedication to achieve life goals. She also said co-curricular activities and sport played important roles in the shaping the personality of a student. She told them punctuality and discipline would help them solve problems with ease.

The college Principal, Mr Jaswant Singh Gill, welcomed the guests. The guests present there included Mr Adarsh Pal Bector, a former president of the Nagar Council of Doraha; Dr Ishwar Singh, college committee president; Mr Tarlok Singh Jaggi, committee member; Prof Balwant Singh Pangali, committee secretary; Ms Urmil Sood, Principal of Guru Nanak Model Senior Secondary School; Mr Mewa Singh Sekhon; Mr Bhupinder Singh, college committee member; Mr Sardara Singh Oberoi, college committee member; Mr Sohan Lal Sood, Dr R.K. Likhi and Prof Parkash Singh.

North Zone sports meet begins

Mandi Gobindgarh, February 10
Mr Vikas Partap, Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib inaugurated the four-day north zone sports meet of ayurveda college at Desh Bhagat Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital here today.

He paid tributes to Lal Singh, a freedom fighter. Earlier, Dr Zora Singh, Chairman of the Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes, said about 600 students from 11 ayurvedic colleges were participating in the meet.

Dr Dinesh, in charge of the cultural meet, said cultural competitions would be inaugurated from February 12.

Teams from Baba Ke Ayurveda College and Hospital (C&H) Daudhar Moga, DB Ayurvedas College and Hospital, Mandi Gobindgarh, DAV Ayurveda C&H, Jalandhar, Guru Nanak Ayurveda C&H, Muktsar, Government Ayurveda C&H, Patiala, Government Ayurveda C&H, Paprola, L.N. Ayurveda C&H, Amritsar, SSMD Ayurveda C&H, Moga, SSKS Ayurveda C&H, Sarabha, Krishna Ayurveda C&H, Kurukshetra, and Mai Bhago Ayurveda C&H for Women, Muktsar, are participating.

The events include races, long and high jumps, shot put and discus throw, besides badminton, table tennis, volleyball and cricket.

Sports club organises cultural fair

Amloh, February 10
Youth Sports Club, Sahiwal, organised its first cultural fair at Sahiwal village, near here, which was presided over by Mr Sadhu Singh Dhramsot, MLA, Amloh, and Mr Tej Parkash Singh, Minister for Transport, and Mr Gurwinder Singh Atwal, Parliamentary Secretary (Co-operation), were the chief guests at various sessions.

Fakir Chand Patanga, Debi Muksuspuri, Surinder Sahu, Lalli Tarkehri, Dev Nirman, Balbir Balli, Viki Punian, Rimpi Shahpuri, Param Bhadson, Anita Sunam, Bhjna Amli, Ms Santi and Bobby Sidhu presented programmes besides bhangra, which was witnessed by a large number of people from the surrounding villages.

Mr Tej Parkash Singh lauded the initiative of the club to check the menace of drugs and to divert the attention of the youth towards our culture.

Among others present were Mr Ranjeet Singh, Tarkhan Majra, Personal Secretary of Dr Harbans Lal, State Forest Minister, Mr Utamjeet Singh Rathor, Coordinator, Nehru Yuvak, Patiala.

Judo meet today

Ludhiana, February 10
A one-day district judo championship for boys and girls as well as senior men and women in all weight categories will be held at the multipurpose hall of Guru Nanak Sports Complex here tomorrow, according to Mr Devinder Singh Walia, president of the District Judo Association.

Interested judokas have been advised to report to Mr Rakesh Singh, district judo coach, at 9 am at the venue.

Sports tournament

Baba Nand Singh Ji Sports and Welfare Club (regd) will organise a tournament on February 13, 14 and 15 at Amargarh Kler in which different teams will participate for football open, kabaddi open. The tournament will be inaugurated by Mr Bhag Singh Mallah, sitting MLA, and the prizes will be distributed by Mr Gurcharan Singh Galib, MP, along with a former MLA, Mr Gurdip Singh Bhaini and Baba Jiwa Singh of Begampura Bhure Sahibwala.
