Jacob inaugurates blood donation camp
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, January 19
The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Lieut-General J.F.R. Jacob (retd.), today called upon voluntary bodies to launch a concerted drive to help the suffering humanity.

Speaking after inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by the National Integrated India Medical Association and the Rajasthan Parishad at Rajasthan Bhavan, General Jacob said the NGOs should supplement the efforts of the Administration in healthcare, education and infrastructure maintenance sectors.

General Jacob said the Administration alone could not provide full health cover to slums and the NGOs would have to pool their efforts in these sectors.

Reacting to the appeal made by the Administrator, the Rajasthan Parishad agreed to give their total support to newly inaugurated 'Chandigarh Hospice'. They also informed the Administrator that the parishad would be starting their mobile trauma unit to help the accident victims.

Earlier, General Jacob inaugurated the camp by lighting the traditional lamp. He also honoured the blood donors, who have contributed more than 100 times.
