Top cardiologists to attend health camp

Ludhiana, January 13
Along with cardiologists of Hero DMC Heart Institute, internationally renowned cardiologists are going to provide their services in a month-long cardiac camp to be organised at Hero DMC Heart Institute, one of the most reputed institute of the region, from January 14 to February 14, 2003, with an aim to provide world-class cardiac care to the people of the region.

According to a hospital spokesperson, the camp has been specially organised on the occasion of New Year to make the best cardiac care available to the people of the region. During the month long camp HDHI will bring internationally renowned cardiologists to Ludhiana to take part in the camp on specific days and to assist Hero DMC cardiologist in different procedure and tests on the patients in the most advanced cath lab settings, supported by best international technology.

The camp will be organised in the institute itself. Angiography charges have also been slashed, which are probably the lowest ever in the country. Angiography is a 15-minute safe procedure for detecting heart disease and blockage in the arteries. ECG charges have been reduced to half and patients can avail 10 per cent concession on other diagnostic tests like 2D Colour coppler, stress echo, TMT, Holter, PFT Routine, Crotid Doppler etc. The institute has also decided to give full refund of Angiography charges to those patients, who will be going through Angioplasty and Surgery.

In a short span of time, Hero DMC Heart Institute has successfully completed 4000 cath lab procedures and 500 heart surgeries, claim the authorities. The incidence of heart disease in very high and on the rise in North India due to rich diet and sedentary lifestyle and not only men but women of upper age group are also falling prey to it. It has also been noticed that most of the people keep on delaying check-up until the problem becomes acute.

Arrest of doctors flayed

Ludhiana, January 13
A meeting of the Faculty Executive Council of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital was held today and condemned the arrest of Dr P.K. Sareen and Dr O.P. Mahajan in the kidney transplant racket.

Dr B.S. Shah, secretary, Dr N.S. Khaira, vice-president, and Dr G. Avasthi, president, of the Council in a joint statement said the probe by the government agencies was partial. They resolved that an impartial probe should be conducted according to the Human Organ Transplant Act, 1994.
