NGOs to hold rally

Ludhiana, December 1
Three NGOs — Nirdosh, Ek Prayas and Ashirwaad taking care of mentally and physically challenged children — have decided to organise a car rally here on December 3, marked as World Disability Day, to create awareness towards the needs and difficulties faced by such children and their parents.

The rally will start from Ek Prayas on the Ferozepore road at 10 am and pass through the Satpal Mittal road to the Pakhowal road. The rally will stop at the Khalsa College for Women, where rallyists will be provided refreshment. Further it will proceed to Mall Road and stop at Nilibar. Later it proceed to mini-Secretariat.

AIDS Day function

Ludhiana, December 1
The World AIDS Day was observed here today at Nauria Mal Jain Senior Secondary School. The chief guest on the occasion was Mr Anurag Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner. He created awareness about AIDS among students on the occasion. The function was presided over by Civil Surgeon Dr S.N. Tiwari, Addressing the students, Dr Tiwari said AIDS is an incurable disease and the only safeguard against it is to take preventive measures.

Mr Santosh Bhatia, District Media Officer, Dr G.K. Bansal, Dr Anil Verma, District AIDS Officer, told students symptoms and preventive measures against the dreaded disease.
