I wonder why

When the sky turns red,

The birds go to bed.

When the stars begin to peep,

We must prepare to sleep.

When the wolves begin to cry,

The sun sets — I wonder why?

When the night slays the day,

The weary kids cease to play.

The tired farmers go back,

Each carrying a large sack.

When the birds to their nests fly,

The sun sets — I wonder why?

When the curtains are drawn,

And toads croak in the lawn.

When the traffic slowly decreases,

The chirping of the birds increases.

When the daylight slowly will die,

The sun will still set — I wonder why?

Examination fever

My heart skipped a beat

As I felt the heat,

Of approaching examination date,

With bated breath I awaited my fate.

A palpable fog of uncertainty loomed large,

Don’t lose heart, said my Mom,

Touching an emotional chord.

Day n’ night toil was need of the hour,

Or else my dreams would go sour.

Embarking upon them is a Herculean task,

A sense of magnitude of mission accomplished,

They do impart.

I knew not of my tryst with destiny,

Comforting, my Mom said, go to sleep, honey.

Of superb performance, I gave brief,

To my Pop, who heaved a sigh of relief!

Faith in omnipotent had done wonders,

For hadn’t I zeroed in on Him,

By total surrender!

Friendship

There is a blue ship,

There is a red ship,

But there is no ship,

Like true friendship.

Friendship makes us laugh,

It also makes us cry,

Differences it ignores,

United it roars.

Warmth of friendship,

Comforts from worldly nips,

Together friends remain,

At the times of hardships.

People say where there is a will

there is a way,

True friendship will always

swing and sway.
