8 medics held for ragging

Ghaziabad, November 29
The Vijay Nagar police have arrested eight students of Santosh Medical College, Ghaziabad, for their involvement in ragging. Some students who were allegedly ragging Naginder, a first year student of the MBBS course, yesterday later beat him up also. Another student, Rajiv, had reportedly saved Naginder from further harassment at the hands of the seniors.

In retaliation, the raggers reached the hostel rooms of those who had sided with Naginder and indulged in hooliganism there in the evening.

On being informed, the Vijay Nagar police swooped on the hostel and arrested Amit of Bhajanpura, Delhi, Rajiv Bansla of Mathura, Manoj of Jhansi, Gaurav of Badayun, Yoginder of Agra and Vijay Shankar of Allahabad.

Science fair at NDMC school ends

New Delhi
A three-day science fair organised in the NDMC schools concluded here today. The students of over 80 schools put over 500 exhibits on display. The Secretary, NDMC, Mr Arun Baroka, gave away the prizes to the best exhibits. He said that the best models should be made part of future exhibitions and should be used to encourage students. Under the science stream, 12 primary, four middle and six secondary schools were placed in the best category. Under the work experience category, six primary schools, three middle schools and four senior secondary schools bagged the prizes for best exhibits. The theme of the fair was ‘Science, Indigenous Technology and Sustainable Development’. TNS
