Draft voters’ lists to be released on Oct 11

The enrollment of voters of Municipal Council, Mandi Gobindgarh, has been completed. The draft publication of voter lists will be released in the office of Executive Officer, Mandi Gobindgarh, and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Amloh, on October 11. This was stated in a press note released here today by Mr Amarjeet Singh Shahi, SDM, Amloh.

It was further stated in the press note that objections and claims will be invited up to October 25, which will be decided on November 8 at 10 am. The final voters’ list will be published on November 12, the press note added.

Burning of paddy straw banned

Ludhiana, October 8
The District Magistrate has banned the burning of paddy straw in the district for two months.

According to orders, issued under Section 144, by DM Anurag Aggarwal, with immediate effect, will remain in force till December 6. Violators are liable to be prosecuted.

The farmers burnt the straw in their fields which resulted in massive air pollution, hindering the movement of traffic besides posing a danger to other crops and the health of people in villages and cities alike, the District Magistrate added in his order.
