The sunset

I stood at the deck of the ship,

And right ahead of me

Were the huge waves

Chasing each other in glee.

It was dusk and the view was breathtaking,

As the sun was setting like a princess so shy,

Slowly going down,

As if bidding its last goodbye.

Standing right there at the deck,

With the wind blowing in my face,

I watched the sun melt into the sea,

With so much beauty and grace.

And now as I lie in bed late at night,

The scene floats in my mind,

I shut my eyes real tight,

But the picture is till there.

Oh! Yes, as fresh as can be,

And it’s now that Irealise,

The sunset that day was just for me.

My granny would say...

Give everyone your ear,

But few your voice.

For keeping distance or being near,

Is but your exclusive choice.

Of your tampering tongue’s fever,

Take hold,

For speech, as they say, is silver,

Silence gold.

Before getting things off your chest,

Put prudently every word to the truth test.

For they upon your words may bank and rest,

Though you have just had your jest.

What is maths?

Listen to me, my dears,

And do away with all your fears.

I shall tell you about maths,

Which I think is like a narrow jungle path.

Algebra is very fearful,

But arithmetic makes me cheerful.

What about trigonometry?

I think it is easier than geometry.

When there is a lecture on parallel lines,

I think of thick forests of pines.

For me —

There’s no difference between a triangle or a rectangle,

I don’t know how to draw any angle.

You do not need to blink,

Because this is what I think.
