How to check enteritis, cholera

ENTERITIS is inflammation of the small intestine. Many factors are responsible for the onset of the disease. The most common factors are overeating or eating spoiled food. Diarrhoea is the main symptom of accute enteritis and bowel movements are frequent. The patient complaints of poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and flatulence. The body temperature rises and the arterial pressure falls in severe cases. Cholera is an extremely serious, highly infectious and often fatal bacterial infection of the intestines. This infection is caused by vibrio cholera. Cholera is contracted through the mouth by eating infected food or drinking water. The first signs and symptoms of cholera are loose stools. The body becomes ice cold and despite feeling so, the patient can not tolerate any cover on his body. The mouth and the tongue are dry with the feeling of extreme thirst.

Precautions and remedies

Cleanliness is the most important and preventive factor. Living and dietary habits must be clean and hygienic. Keep all food items and drinking water well covered. Bed rest is recommended and drinking water should always be boiled. Deposit of water should not be allowed and special attention should be given for cleaning toilets and bathrooms. Use appropriate chemicals to ward of flies and mosquitoes. Wash your hands and utensils before preparing food. Cut your children’s and your nails.

For enteritis patients, food should be highly caloric and rich in proteins and vitamins. In cholera, the initial medicine is Amritdhara in small doses of six drops every 30 minutes. Avoid ripe or unripe fruits, salads, eating out, spicy food and dairy products for few days. Use boiled water “Ayurvedic mixture” containing onion, ginger, lemon, pudina juice, imli, hing and salt. Prof F.C. Chopra XI win

Fine batting display by Prabhjot Khatra (121 n.o) and Gaurav Marwaha (90) helped Prof F.C. Chopra XI to score an emphatic victory by eight wickets against Anil Bharti XI in the inaugural match of the Ist S. Charanjit Singh Walia Triangular Cricket Tournament being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association at the Arya College for Boys ground here today.

Batting first, Anil Bharti XI posted a challenging total of 255 runs. Prof F.C. Chopra XI surpassed the total losing just two wickets.

Chopra XI — 257 for 2 in 41.3 overs ( Gaurav Marwaha 90, Prabhjot Khatra 121 n.o, Harkirat Singh 19 n.o, Ashish Sehgal 1 for 49 and Sachin 1 for 15)

In the second match, Anil Bharti XI registered an easy five-wicket win over Ashok Jain XI. Ashok Jain XI made 263 all out with main contributions coming through Karan Goel 73 and Deepak 39. For Anil Bharti XI, Mukul Gupta scalped five victims conceding 33 runs.

Anil Bharti XI made the required runs after losing five wickets.
