Kalmadi
hails Malhotra's appointment New Delhi, July 18 Mr Kalmadi said with Mr Malhotra, who is also the president of the Archery Association of India, at the helm, the AICS was bound to do a wonderful job in giving a big boost to sports in the country. Mr Kalmadi felt that the revival of the AICS would give a new impetus for the growth of sports in the country as there was space for every one to work together—the Sports Ministry, the AICS, the IOA and the Sports Authority of India—for the betterment of Indian
sports. The AICS was once the supreme body of Indian sports before the Sports Ministry was created after the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi. The AICS has been revived mainly as an advisory body to the Sports Ministry, though Mr Malhotra, as Chairman of the AICS, enjoys a Cabinet rank. |
