The football players of Sanjay Public School, Sector 44, will be allowed to take part in any kind of selection trials for the National School Games in various age groups. The school players were banned from taking part in the pre-Subroto Cup matches to be held next week by the UT Education Department. This was confirmed by Mr D.S. Mangat, DPI (Schools), UT, while talking to this reporter this evening. He said the school authorities met him and gave a representation for allowing the players. Mr Mangat said for the Subroto Cup, Sanjay School as an institution would not be allowed to participate on the basis of a report submitted by the committee as its players had committed irregularities last year in the meet held at Delhi. When his attention was drawn to the reported case of overage players in cricket, which led the whole team getting scrached at the National School Games, he said he would look into the matter. When contacted, Mr T.R. Sethi, director of the school, said that he tried to put forth the positive points in allowing the school players which the DPI (Schools) readily agreed. HUDA removes encroachments
Property dealers filling rivulet, selling land
Tribune News Service

Panchkula, July 18
Unscrupulous property dealers of Punjab have changed the natural course of a seasonal rivulet, acting as a natural boundary between Punjab and Haryana. Thus prime land belonging to Haryana in Sector 19 here, adjoining Baltana in Punjab, continues to be sold off by these dealers to unsuspecting persons.

Yet another case in this regard came to light yesterday, when a Baltana-based property dealer filled the seasonal rivulet with plinth and then today erected a boundary wall on this recalimed land belonging to Haryana.

Since the land on Haryana side had been allotted to Haryana CID Lines, they immediately brought it to the notice of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Panchkula and the Estate Office, Haryana Urban Development Authority. Taking a strong exception to this encroachment on land belonging to Haryana, the Haryana Urban Development Authority, armed with men and machinery, today decided to get its land back.

Armed with a posse of about 30 cops led by DSP Jagdish Nagar, anti- encroachment staff of HUDA led by the Estate Officer, Ms Geeta Bharti, rushed here in the evening and demolished the wall constructed by property dealer. Two JCBs were used to demolish the wall and remove the plinth in order to reopen the rivulet.

HUDA officials said that they were informed about this encroachment yesterday. “We visited the spot yesterday and saw that the rivulet was being filled with earth. We restrained the property dealer against this as there is a status quo on the land on both sides of this rivulet by both Panchkula and Rajpura courts,” informed Ms Geeta Bharti.

The SDM, Panchkula, Mr M.S. Yadav, said that they immediately brought this to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner, Patiala and the SDM Rajpura. “However, the activity continued today as well and they started erecting a boundary wall around the encroached land today,” he said.

HUDA officials also alleged that the property dealers were assisted by two police officials. While an Assistant-Sub-Inspector of Police was keeping guard yesterday, another ASI was helping the accused today while the wall was being erected.

The Assistant Estate Officer, Mr Bhardwaj, the SDM, Mr M.S. Yadav, and the Tehsildar, Mr Ashwani Kumar Sharma, were present on the occasion. The Tehsildar, Dera Bassi, Mr Sanjiv Kumar, too, visited the spot. Later, the HUDA Administrator, Mr Arun Kumar Gupta, too, came here. While talking to mediapersons, he said that they would file for contempt proceedings against the property dealer and two Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Police.

The police has registered a case against the property dealers on the complaint of the Assistant Estate Officer, HUDA.
