Father's Day has its own anecdote - actually this idea was the brainchild of Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington. She wanted to honour her father who raised his six children alone, after the death of Sonora's mother. Ms Sonora celebrated her first Father's Day on June 19, 1910. President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon B. Johnson finally established the third Sunday of June to become Fathers Day. Roses represent Father's Day - Red to be worn for a living father and white if the father has died.
