Students recall Guru’s sacrifice
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, May 31
It was a day of prayers at the local Spring Dale Public School yesterday on the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev. The sacred Bir was brought to the school and the programme for the day opened with ‘Mukh Wak’ from Guru Granth Sahib.

This was followed by a rendition of Sukhmani Sahib by Miran Ji and her five disciples. Their ‘shabad gayan’ and ‘Gurbani kirtan’ were as melodious as Miran’s talk on the Guru was sweet. “Japao Jin Arjan Dev Guru Pher Sankat Garbh Jaun Nahi Aayo,” was on the lips of everyone. Later, students of the school served ‘Guru ka langar’ and cool ‘sherbet’ to the gathering, in the presence of the school director.

Shekhar Suman in city
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, May 31
‘‘I started Silver Theatre Academy as I wanted to diversify my craft. The actors, whether in the films or in the television, get struck in a groove. To break the monotony, I thought I should go back to theatre for theatre is central and strongest of all crafts,’’ said Shekhar Suman.

Talking to mediapersons, Shekhar Suman, heroine of the play ‘Woh Tum Hi To Ho’, Roma Navani and its director Om Kataria talked at length about the play.

Shekhar said that play was simple and had kept all theatrical elements in it. It had tried to be away from the influence of the movies.

This play revolved round a heroine who had not made it to the top. It was her last attempt to get to the top and also find a husband. The story revolved round these two characters only. Om Kataria said that he had a theatre company called Yatri. When Shekhar told him that he was going to popularise the theatre and bring awareness to the people about the beauty of the theatre , he felt that he should chip in. Om Kataria said that they want the Hindi theatre should get professional recognition. Despite Shekhar's commitments to ‘Movers ’n’ Shakers’ he found time to rehearse during the night and the play had been successful in Dubai as well as different cities of India. Shekhar said that on the stage he was what he wanted to do and not what was expected of him. He was much different on stage than in his TV shows.

Answering the questions about the medium he liked best, he replied that for an actor opportunity to act in a good role in any medium was more important than any other factor.

Roma Navani had acted in four plays with Yatri. The play would be staged tomorrow.
