Gerhard Schroder
Ranga

THE Chancellor of Germany, Gerhard Schroder, who paid an official visit to Delhi in October 2001, had a busy time throughout his short stay in Delhi. He signed many pacts to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and Germany.

I chased him wherever went visiting to have a glimpse of him and sketch him. At last, I landed at Rajghat where he was to pay homage to the Father of the Nation. The security was tight but I managed to meet him soon after he laid a wreath on the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.

It did not take much time for him to sign his sketch. He only took time to return the sketch as he was holding it to show it to his entourage.
